The Sit Down with Nick Dunne

Nick Dunne has been going non-stop this year keeping extremely busy with lots of travel, performing FMX demos around the states, and taking his list of tricks to the next level. Nick called the MM Compound to fill us in on what has been going down with his demanding schedule.

STATS:
Top Spots -
Ocotillo Wells.
Fitzland.
Mulisha Compound.

Favorite Tricks -
Whips in natural terrain.
Nac Flip.
Nac-Nacs.
No Hand Candybar.
Indy Flip.

Describe Yourself In 1 Word -
Spazz.

MM: How’s everything been going for you Dunne?
DUNNE: Well I’ve been super busy to say the least…just putting lots of hours and time on the road. I was out in Washington for a demo last week that was pretty cool and this weekend I’m off to Plymouth Oregon for another demo with the boys.
It’s called Nuts Moto-X. Homan was going to be there but he just took a visit to the hospital because he broke his femur. Sucks he can’t ride and throw down some tricks with us.

MM: What are you riding right now?
DUNNE: Funny you ask haha… I actually just switched over to a CRF450. I want to keep up with the times and the power of a 450 is sick. At first I was kind of sketched out by the weight and how different it will be, but after a few runs it was all the same.

MM: What made you decide to make the switch?

DUNNE: In Montana I rode Drake McElroy’s bike and I was hooked. I think for tricks it’s going to benefit me a lot and to have all that extra power, it’s so fucking sick. Fitz made the switch lately and he’s loving it too.

MM: Evel Knievel Days looked like it was a pretty cool event…

DUNNE: For sure! Yeah it was the 11th annual Evel Knievel Days last month in Butte, Montana and it was going off. The weather cleared up before we rode and myself, Bell and a bunch of other riders hit side-by-side ramps in front of a shit load of people. It’s a crazy event, Harleys everywhere, drinking, girls, mullets, people just getting nuts. It was a killer show and the crowd was pumped!

MM: Any new contest coming up?

DUNNE: The Pomona ASA World Championships is right around the corner on September 29th at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. Can’t wait for that.

MM: What kind of training do you do to prepare for an event like that…?

DUNNE: Well I’m getting lots of practice hitting all theses demos, but on my weeks off I’m really working on my fitness and focusing on a good list of tricks during my run. I think keeping up with cardio helps out the most, makes the contest more relaxed when your out there you know. Other than that, just tuning up some big tricks.

MM: Word is you will be on this year’s Nuclear Cowboyz tour.

DUNNE: Yeah I am so pumped for that. Just signed the Nuclear Cowboyz contract yesterday and can’t wait for the tour. Nuclear is sick, you get to put on one of the sickest FMX shows out there, and ride with your friends. I’m pretty sure from the Mulisha team it’s me, Agee, of course Faisst, Fitz will be out there, Garland, and I think Adelberg.

MM: Shoutouts?

DUNNE: Heal up Homan!
