The FIM Endurance World Championship enters the last part of it season. Making its return to the calendar this year, the Oschersleben 8 Hours, the fourth and penultimate race of the season, will therefore be a crucial clash in the battle for the Superstock title. The winner of this race, to be held in Germany on 11 August, will chalk up thirty-five points. So it will be a close-run affair at Oschersleben ahead of the final round of this season's FIM Endurance World Cup in Le Mans on 8 and 9 September. Team DGSport Herock will travel to the east of Germany where the Motopark Oschersleben is situated in the heart of Saxony-Anhalt. The present 3,667m Oschersleben circuit was built in 1997 and previously staged World Superbike races. Our riders will take to the track for the first unofficial free practice sessions on Wednesday, supported by our K-Tech suspension engineer to work out the best possible setting. In this way we are able to fully concentrate on race pace during the qualifying sessions. Team DGSport Herock is just 13 points away from securing the lead of the championship but the competition will be real intense.Didier Van Keymeulen:"Oschersleben is a circuit I know very well from my years in IDM. It has always been good to me even if it's not my favourite. I was second here in the European Superstock 1000 race, with my current team mate Vizziello winning that race. At that time we were also on a Yamaha/Pirelli combination.
I didn't get on a bike since Doha, so 'm really looking forward to getting on track and hopefully earning our best finish of the year on the podium. Our R1 should be ideal on this type of track."Alex Cudlin:"I'm really looking forward to racing at Oschersleben, it's a track I really enjoy. The last time I rode there was in 2007, so it has been some years but I still remember it well.
I'm also looking forward to riding with the DG Sport team again.
Since Qatar, I have been in Australia. I started work with a new personal trainer that has lifted my fitness levels very high. Physically I'm feeling really good. My training has gone perfectly. We will have some fierce competition at Oschersleben. The BMW team that is leading the championship looks strong and this being there home track, will give them an advantage. I believe we have the best riders on our team though, so if the bike, us riders and the team work 100% this weekend, we can pounce on our opposition. Time will tell."Gianluca Vizziello:I'm pleased to be back in shape for this race as I hurt my ankle during a scooter accident just after the Doha race. After an examination on my ankle, the team of Doctor Costa saw my ligaments were touched so I needed a few weeks rest. But now I've been training a lot in the swimming pool to get back to full fitness and all is ok. I'm looking forward to join my team mates on the bike again.Mario Kupper – Chief Mechanic:"We've been pretty much flat-out in the workshop since the bikes got back from Doha. We've been servicing the engines and prepping the bikes as after this race we have our local race at the 6 Hours of Spa on August 18 followed straight away by the prĂ©-Mans testing. It will be hectic in the next weeks, but we are confident.Follow the race from 14h on Saturday 11 August on www.fim-live.com with the " LIVE TIMING "Endurance World Cup Standings (after 2 rounds): 1 Penz13 58 points, 2 DGSPORT HEROCK 45, 3 3D Endurance 40, 4 Atomic MotoSport 39, 5 Team Motors Events 38, Quatar Endurance Racing Team 35Communication DG Sport Herock - competition.dgsport.eu/
