Another podium finish for the 94 Yamaha

The 94 Yamaha earns a new podium finish on a race track where it has often been successful. The fight at the front of the race was splendid. Due to an extra fuel stop and a pace car that inserted itself at the worst possible time for us, we were 1 min. behind the "99" two hours before the end of the race. With 13 laps to go, David Checa was only 13 seconds behind. Everything still seemed possible. But yellow flags preventing passing in Sector 2 because of several crashes put a stop to our climb towards the second step on the podium.Christophe Guyot: "We are very happy to be on the podium. David was exceptional. The word is not appropriate because he does this at every race. Kenny was awesome. He has the fastest lap times and doesn't make any mistakes. Many thanks to Gwen Giabbani. He was quick, reliable, and smart. Coming back from Suzuka, and without the possibility to test on this track, we favored performance and reliability over fuel consumption. We will be able to correct this for Le Mans of course, but we can already be happy with our showing here. Thanks to my team and Michelin for this new podium. Our tires were perfect from start to finish."David Checa: "This race was really special to me because I raced and won here when I joined the GMT team 10 years ago. The Germans' welcome is always warm. There are many endurance fans. I love being here. The trophy ceremony with the public was a great moment. Thanks to the organizers for all the special attentions towards us. I'm looking forward to the 24 Hours of Le Mans."Kenny Foray: "We fought a good fight. I'm happy to be on the podium again. Our bike is working great. We were competitive, and that's the most important thing. We were unlucky with the pace car, which cost us some time, but we had benefited from it at Suzuka. That's the way endurance racing goes."Gwen Giabbani: "I loved the team. Their bike is great. I had a lot of fun. I was careful not to make any mistakes, and I quickly found a good race pace. Thanks for this podium. It feels good."The next race will be held at Le Mans on September 8 and 9.Communication GMT 94 - http://www.gmt94.com -
