All hands on board for the annual Professor Paddle Ball on the banks of the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth, WA, this coming weekend June 9 and 10! This is a two-day kayaking gathering/party with a playboat competition and downriver races. It’s also happening on the same weekend as the Wenatchee River Festival that happens on Saturday June 9, put on by the Washington Kayak Club, and the Wenatchee Raft Games put on by River Booty on June 8 and 9, so Leavenworth and Cashmere will basically be Paddler Central.
Here’s the line-up for the Professor Paddle Ball, although keep in mind it could change:
Saturday June 9th:
- 11am- Lower Icicle Creek Race (Kayak+Raft)
- 4pm - Wenatchee Downriver Sprint (Mass Start)
- 11pm- Operation Aplets & Cotlets
Sunday June 10th
- 12pm- Wenatchee River Rodeo (Spot TBD)
- 3pm- Raffle & Event Awards
For those who haven’t attended in the past, Operation Aplets & Cotlets is pretty much what you would expect from a bunch of kayakers on the river at 11 pm.
There’s a thread about the ball on Professor Paddle, and here’s the link to directions to the camp spot and other festival locations. No ramp this year, but should be a great time regardless!
