Back on the highlights of the fifth round of the 2012 EWC series…

A few days after the Grand Prix Scorpion Exo of Italy, and with over a month before the Scandinavian tour, we look back on the highlights of the fifth round of the 2012 EWC series….Rok BAGOROSAs previously announced, the Slovenian stunt rider Rok BAGOROS (KTM) put on a show to remember show. With two performances on Saturday, the little stunt magician amazed the large crowds that had gathered in Piazzale Garibaldi. BAGOROS put on a masterful display of stunts and even offered a kiss the Scorpion Exo hostess during an exciting stoppie. At just 23 years of age, Rok BAGOROS has a bright future in front of him.FreestyleOn Friday evening before the KTM Super Test, the Moto Club Castiglione Fiorentino "Fabrizio Meoni" had the brilliant idea to offer an exhibition of freestyle at the foot of the medieval city. The event proved a great success and even flag throwers of the city, "Sbandieratori" were present to celebrate the combination of motorsport and history of the city.Fighting SpiritAlthough comfortably winning both days, Laia SANZ (E - Gas Gas) suffered a huge impact with a stone in the last Xtreme Test. Unable to place her foot on the footrest, she entered the Enduro Test without the use of the rear brake. After some falls, she still won the day with absolute courage. Immediately visiting the hosptial it was revealed that SANZ had infact fractured her toe in three places – an injury that required surgery. KTMThe GP of Italy was a strange weekend for KTM. Despite the Austrian firm collecting wins with Antoine MEO (F) and Eero REMES (SF) in E1, Cristobal GUERRERO (E) in E2 and David KNIGHT (GB) and Christophe NAMBOTIN (F) in E3, it was also a stressful time under the KTM Farioli awning. Indeed, with two DNF, Johnny AUBERT (F) experienced serious fuel injuection issues. Antoine MEO also suffered the same problem on Sunday and failed to finish the first special test.. Despite their five victories this weekend, KTM will need to solve this mechanical problem before the Scandinavian rounds or risk a strong challenge from their competitors. InjuriesAlong with Laia SANZ, the GP of Italy witnessed a large batch of injuries. On day one, Jérémy JOLY (F - Yam) hit the same rock as SANZ and broke three metatarsals in his foot but nevertheless ended the day in ninth. Also on Saturday, Jordan ROSE (GB - TM) was forced to retire with a broken scaphoid along with Mario ROMAN (E - KTM) who badly sprained his finger, while Blandine DUFRENE (F - Husaberg) gave up on Sunday because of severe pain in her hip. These five riders now join Marc BOURGEOIS (F - Yam), Juliette BERREZ (F - TM) and Hans VOGELS (NL - Husaberg) on the EWC injury list...Grand ChampionAlthough finishing second and five minutes behind her rival on day one, Ludivine PUY (F - Gas Gas) refused to captisile on a mistake by SANZ when the Catalan rode the wrong way through the Pre-Finish. Showing great commaradie to her teammate PUY declared "She deserves to win, do not do anything!" Such actions is proof that the double world champion is a true champion of the sport.Special thanksAlain BLANCHARD for ABC Communication and Christian DEJASSE for the Federation International of Motorcycling (FIM) were keen to emphasize the excellent organization of the Moto Club Castiglione Fiorentino "Fabrizio Meoni" that made this fifth round of the EWC 2012 a great popular festival like rarely seen before. Without a doubt, this Moto Club will be one of the favorites for the title of best organization of the year to succeed to the Greeks "Molek" (Kalampaka), winners in 2011.VisitA well-known rider of the EWC paddock, Sebastien BOZZO (F - Beta) made a visit to Castiglione Fiorentino. BOZZO broke his femur at the finals in 2011 in Mende and was again unlucky to fracture it for a second time before the start of the season. The Provencal should be back for the final round of the season at Brignoles, France on October 20/21 with the team Beta Boano.PresenceAgain, many representatives of the sponsors of the Championship were present in Castiglione Fiorentino. Furthermore Laurent MAVON (CL Brakes) and Yuri DANESI (Acerbis), Juergen WEISZ (KTM) and especially Jean-Michel PFRIMMER (Scorpion Exo) and his new semitrailer had traveled to attend the 2012 Italian Grand Prix like also Alfredo CIRESA (HM Honda).Motorex cornerThe Grand Prix Scorpion Exo of Italy took place in sweltering heat so the ABC Communication team decided to build a pool in the middle of the paddock. This pool, in the center of which was placed a Motorex table, caused quite a stirr throughout the week. Organizers, hostesses, riders and even mechanics took advantage of it to keep cool. Ivan CERVANTES (E - Gas Gas), Lulu, Laia, Jessica Gardiner (AUS - Yam), Antoine MEO (F - KTM) were even thrown into the water after the autograph session on Saturday...
